Four women are imprisoned in gloomy death cells in the United States today, awaiting their execu tion. Three states are preparing to make these four women's chUdren - motherless by legal murder! r While sympathetic people moth ers, preachers, reformers are peti tioning that NO woman be put to death, whatever her offense, the hangman's noose is being made ready for two of the murderesses, and. the coils and straps of the electric chair are gaping for the two others. "Sister" Mary Johnson, who will be the first woman ever executed in Florida, is the fourth and latest in the list. The other three are Mrs. Bessie Wakefield, condemned in Connecti cut, and Mrs. Cynthia Buffum and Mrs. Magdalena Ferola, upon whom the state of New York has pronounc ed the death sentence. .As emotionless as the walls that hold her captive, "Sister" Johnson, mother of several chddren, waits in the Calhoun county jail at Blouns town, Fla., for execution. jWi'iSj; &. --" w.
