efficient woman's work, is worth quite
as much as the most efficient man's.

all the men mad, but it's true and I

to me her social creeds'
I had come to interview her on the
work and purpose of the Industrial
Relations Commission, of which she
is the-QnJy woman member.
That phrase pounds the character
keynote of the slender, gray-eyed wo-,
man, born toeat wealth and sociaj
eminence, whVis, nevertheless, a sin
cere democrat. I found that "Mrs.
Harriman, first, last and always, is
not for any classl not for any precon
ceived sentiment, but for the truth!
"Since women are just as efficient
as men," Mrs, Harriman continued,
"I believe they should be PAID exactly
as much. And that should be a living
