Crass stains may be removed from
washing materials by carefully rub
bing the spots with a httle fresh lard.
Then wash in the usual way, and you
will find that the stains have entirely
To remove soil from marble take
finely powdered pumice and vinegar.
Wash entire surface with mixture and
leave it for six hours, brush hard and
wash in clear water. When dry rub
with whiting and chamois.
Carpets may be washed on tables
or on the floor. In either case they
must be taken up and thoroughly
beaten and swept Grease spots may
be removed by rubbing hard soap and
gasoline on spot and then scrubbed
with brush and hot water. Each spot
must be washed by itself and the spot
allowed to dry before the carpet is
