THOSE ONE-PIECE BATHING SUITS SURE
CREATED HAVOC IN THIS TOWN i
Millers Station, Ind. If Chicago
bathing girls who can't get along
with the police at home would only
stay in the water when they come to
this place to swim, Millers Station
wouldn't be such a poor fire risk.
Also, if the church deacons who
make up the village fire brigade
would just keep their eyes on the
"hungry flames" instead of on the
"dolls" in one-piece taffeta bathing
suits Millers Station's corner grocery
wouldn't be a heap of ashes today.
But the girls came; they swam,
and then they paraded" along the
shore, and everybody sat up and rub
bed their eyes and asked "what will
happen next." Then it happened.
The grocery store caught fire. The
fire brigade rushed to the scene of
the disaster, the girls followed the fire
brigade, ttie firemen being none
other than the town's "first" citizens"
stopped to look at the girls; they
kept on loqking. The girls watched
the fire; the fireman watched- the
girls, the town watched its best little
grocery store go up in smoke.
Anyway, if Chicago bathing girls
"play in ouryaid" again they'll just
have all the fun they like but they
must not interfere with the fire de
