Jirize recently for having the prettiest
bathing costume in a parade of mer
maids on the beach at Santa Monica,
Cal. The beach was thronged with
spectators and it was rumored that
there was a preponderance of gentle
men present who watched the
daughters of Neptune with" keen in
terest. The rivalry amongst the fair
bathers was great and there were
many novel and striking swimming
garbs some of which were the "don't
go near the water' kind.

While bathing in the Susquehanna
fiver here today Bernard Jones was '
bitten in the arm by a snake and it
