The protest against certain frater
nal organizations on account of legal
fights made against the payment of
death claims has been made a cam
paign issue. During the winter sev
eral families, mostly poor families,
made a plea that some fraternal or
ganizations went through a court
fight before paying claims. Last
night John R. Durso, who is a Demo
cratic candidate for state's senator
from the 29th district, attacked the
methods of several of the fraternal
societies and made a pledge that if
elected he would introduce a bill to
make death claims incontestable.
