New York. A real National the
ater, to be founded at a cost of less
than $10,000, is the project of Adele
Blood, the pretty actress now star
ring in the new play, "Milady's Bou
doir." "The New York millionaires made
a miserable failure of their 'New The
ater' experiment," she says, "in spite
of the fact that they had $3,000,000
to spend on it
"I'll bet a really successful National
theater can be organized for less than
$10,000, and I'm going to try it, as
soon as I get the money and time.
"What I shall do is this: I'll hire a
small theater, and organize a reper
toire company. And then I'll produce
30 plays by unknown American au
thors in 30 weeks. The beginning will
be humble. But it will be independ
ent not: supported by an endow
ment with a string tied to it! And
I know it will grow to something big,
for America has scores of young au
thors with new ideas, only waiting
for such an opportunity."
