Pass Strong Resolutions.
Openly charging that the State
street merchants' trust has influenc
ed the Board of Review and in that
way managed to have their taxes re
duced, the Woman's Party of Cook
County have declared war on tax
dodging. Mrs. .Charlotte Rhodus and Mrs.
Annie Wallace Hunt are leading the
battle for the women. Most of their
attacks have been aimed at the Board
of Review. They blame' this body for
the manner in which the people are
skinned through taxdodging.
Roy O. West, head of thsBpard of
Review, comes in for his share in
the denunciation of the women. His
record as a corporation lawyer and
his known friendliness to Big Busi
ness is pointed out They also ac
cuse Roy O. West of being behind
Isaac N. Powell for the job which
West will leave after this election.
According to a rough estimate by
a prominent man in real estate cir
cles, the city is losing taxes on $90,
000,000 worth of property on State
street from Van Buren to Lake street
