struck on the head and died from his
hurt. I was merely a spectator and
innocent of the deed, but I was ar
rested, convicted, sentenced. For
four years .and nine months I toiled
in the Trenton penitentiary. I got 15
months off for good behavior.
"I knew the man who struck the
blow for which I was being punished.
He was my friend, Lewis Legg. Be
did not come forward to save me, but
I am not and never have been sorry I
made the sacrifice. I would not now
tell his name if he were not dead."
Sweeney las a brother who is a
Catholic priest in Philadelphia. A sis
ter lives at Chester, Pa.
MYRTLE SANTAY TAKES SECOND
DOSE' OF POISON MAY DIE
Myrtle Santay has tried suicide
again. She is suffering in the Fassa
vant Hospital from the second dose
of poison in a month.
The girl took some dope in her
room at 31 E. Oak sL, in September,"
and when removed to the hospital
told a story that caused the arrest of
William C. Sensibaugh, "evangelist"
and Bible student connected with the
detective force of the Rev. Elmer L.
He and a midwife implicated by
her charges are to appear at the Chi
cago av. court today to. answer her
accusations. Last night the girl
sought to end the trouble by killing
She tells of threats made against
her by Sensibaugh, who, she claims,
promised to "fix" her if she appeared
in court today.
"I am going to end it this time,"
she said when she took the poison
last night. The doctors at the hospi
tal fear that she will "succeed.
