That an attempt is being made to
defeat woman suffrage in Montana by
fraud was charged in a telegram re
ceived at national suffrage campaign
headquarters today from Miss Jean
ette Rankin of Butte, president of the
Montana suffrage organization.
Miss Rankin wired Mrs. Medill Mc
Cormick that incomplete returns to
day show suffrage leading by 2,000
votes. The returns at Anaconda are
being held up, Miss Rankin tele
