KILLING A RABBIT

Somerville, N. J., Nov. 19. In the
county jail here, Oscar Phillipson, 19
years old, is serving a four-months
sentence.
He is the son of a -widowed -mother,
the oldest of four children. .He,
was the main support of the" house
hold, his m'other being a'n invalid.'
What AWFUL THING do you sup
pose Oscar did, to be sent; to prison
for 120 days, -while his mother, his
younger brother and his two little sis
ters wonder day by day where' their
bread is to come from?
Listen he KILLED A RABBIT!
A week before the season opened
in which rabbit-shooting is legal in
New Jersey, Oscar went out back of
the Phillipsons' little home in North
Flainneld, one morning and saw a
rabbit nibbling the cabbages in the
cabbage patch.
It wasn't the first rabbit that had
nibbled' the cabbages. There had
been a lot of nibbling, in the Phillip
sons' and other people's patche.
Oscar -was tired of 'having his cab
bages nibbled. So he went in the
house arid got his gun, and shot the
rabbit.
