To Members of the City Council:
Representatives of numerous organizations of men
and women of Chicago have asked the right to see that
there is an honest count of bona-fi.de subscribers of the
- Automatic phone service. They will appear before your
' body tonight to repeat that request, after it had been
turned down by one of your committees.
This is a very important matter to the people of Chi
cago. It involves changing the telephone system of this
city from private to public ownership, with infinitely
better phone service than the people are getting now,
