VILLA PLANS ATTACK ON VERA
CRUZ HELD BY CARRANZA
Washington, Dec. 2. Provisional
President Gutierrez, accompanied by
Gen. Villa, is expected to enter Mex
ico City today and establish himself
in the national palace as the head
of the Mexican government, accord
ing to official advices to the state de
partment this afternoon.
El Paso, TexM Dec. 2 Carranzista
troops from the division of Gen. Pab
lo Gonzales have cut the railroad be
tween San Luis Potosl and Quere
tora and are menacing Provisional
President Gutierrez' temporary cap
ital at Queretaro, according to trust
worthy advices received here today.
The interruption in railroad commun
ication cu off a part of Gutierrez'
cabinet and members of the Aguas
calientes convention and they are go
ing by circuitous routes to join Gu
tierrez. The unexpected trouble made by
the Carranza forces has tended to up
set the provisional president's jplan
and it is not definitely known when
his journey to Mexico City will be
gin. With the arrival of Gen. Francisco
Villa in Mexico City it has been of
ficially announced that the leader's
campaign against the Carranza cap
ital at Vera Cruz will be instituted
immediately.
Villa and Gen. Zapata will lead
their troops in person in this cam
paign and they expect to assemble an
army of 25,000 men to participate.
Strenuous efforts are being made
by the convention agents to induce
the Mexican navy to repudiate Car
ranza so that the gunboats Bravo and
Zaragosa may be used in Villa's at
tack on Vera Cruz.
