HOYNE'S WAR ON TAXDODGERS
Newspapers Openly Advocate Violation of Revenue
Laws How Grand Jury Secrets Got to the News
papers State's Attorney Hoyne Issues
Statement for the Public
, A statement today, by Maclay
Hoyne, state's attorney of Cook
county, in effect accuses the Chicago
newspaper trust of trying to wreck
'the whole machinery of law and
courts in Cook county.
Secret connections which some of
the trust newspapers have made
with the grand jury are touched on
by Hoyne. Three State street de
partment store men are on the Jury,
four members have big jobs with rail
roads, and others have big business
jobs and associations.
The indjctmem of Jujiua -Rosen-
wald, the Sears-Roebuck million
aire, and the writing of Rosenwald's
name in the same-book as the in
dicted thieves and burglars of Chi
cago has started a fierce campaign
against Hoyne.. Also the promise of
Hoyne that more big rich men who
have violated the tax laws will be in
dicted makes a situation where the
trust press is fighting the state's at
torney. Hoyne's statement today
