PROF. HENDERSON SAYS THE
UNEMPLOYED WOULD WORK
That Chicago's unemployed are
willing to work is the belief of Prof.
C. R. Henderson of the University of
Chicago. He has spent some time in
our municipal lodging houses.
"These men we get every night at
the municipal lodging houses," he
said, "are willing to work. I venture
that only 5 per cent of them are of
the chronic 'bum' class.
"Seventy per cent of the men are
physically able to work. The trouble
which confronts us here is getting
places for the men."

workers of the building trades," said
