yesterday, died today from poison
taken, with suicidal intent after he
had. committed the crime.
In a dying statement he declared
he was temporarily insane when he
horribly slashed his beautiful wife
to death as she lay convalescent h

The body of Mrs. Lorena Wheeler
Beresford Snyder, the murdered
woman, 'was held today for some
word from her former husband, Ar
thur Beresford, or from Snyder's fa
ther, a millionaire Pittsburgh liquor
Suffering intensely from the bi
chloride of mercury poison, Snyder
told how he won Mrs. Beresford, ob
tained her a divorce in Oklahoma and
married her in New Orleans a year
ago. She could not forget her three
children with Beresford, however,
Snyder declared, and she constantly
begged to return to them. Finally
he consented to her going to Chicago
for Several months and when she
came to Houston to undergo an oper
ation she brought along her young
est son. In the meantime, intense
jealousy, fortified by prolonged- dis
sipation, confessed Snyder, crazed
him. He slashed her neck and limbs
until she died.
