SMALL LOOP HOTELS PROBED
AFTER GIRLS' ARREST
The large number of young girls
who have recently appeared before
the juvenile court and testified that
their downfall occurred in loop ho
tels has led to an investigation by
Ass't State's Att'y Hogan, who will
prosecute the hotel owners.
Yesterday the registers of the Na
tional hotel, Van Buren and Wabash,
and the Normandie hotel, 419 S. Wa
bash, were confiscated and the own
ers face the charge of renting rooms
to couples for improper purposes.
This action was taken following
the story of Marie Jewell, 17 years
old, who disappeared from home on
Feb. 2. She was recognized and ar

The girl's confession is said to have
implicated several other loop hotels.
