WANT ABATEMENT BILL
Samuel Thrasher, head of the Chi-
cago committee of. 15, yesterday,ap
peared before the house committee
on judiciary in Springfield to support
the abatement bill which will make it
possible to close houses of ill-fame
as public nuisances.
In his talk before the committee
Thrasher said commercialized vice
was in, the Control of such men as
"Hinky Dink" and "Bathhouse John."
"Are you making any charges
against Alderman Kenna?" asked
Thrasher replied that he wasn't
"Mr. Kenna is as fine a Christian
gentleman as there is in this room
despite the fact he was against me ui

RUSSIAN DIRIGIBLES DO BIG

Petrograd. Russian dirigibles now
being used to harrass Gen. von Hin
denburg's lines of communication.
One of them bombarded German po
sitions near Plock on Thursday, drop
ping 15 bombs on enemy's transports,
badly damaging them. Several Ger
man boats on Vistula also were
sunk. Two other dirigibles dropped
bombs on railway station at Mlawa
and on German aerodrome at Nin
niky, causing great damage.
