Told About Arrest of Drug Dep't Man in Dope
War Other Dope Cases.
Dope fiends will get no more dope
at Siegel-Cboper's department store.
Yesterday'attomeys representing the
store appeared before TJ. S. Commis
sioner Lewis F. Mason and said that
the store had ordered .their drug de
partment not to fill any more pre
scriptions for drugs of any kind.
So the charge of filling fraudulent
prescriptions against H. L. Eberhard,
manager of the prescription depart
ment, was dismissed.
Recently agents for the department
of internal revenue discovered a large
number of prescriptions in the files
of the store calling for morphine, her
oine and cocaine. All had been fill
ed. The majority of these dope
orders were written by Dr. A. L.
Blunt, who Is located at 9 W. Harri
son st, a short block away from the
Dr. Blunt is classed as a "prescrip
tion mill" by the district attorney's
office. Since the passage of the Har
rison act a few months ago he has
written thousands of prescriptions for
dope fiends. He charges you accord?
ing to your looks. Dope fiends have
testified that they have paid him
amounts ranging from 50 cents to ?5Q
for a "cure."
"What was the government's rea
son for dismissing this case?" a Day
Book reporter asked Commissioner
"They promised to be good and
never to do it again," replied the com
missioner. "The government does
not intend to prosecute the. druggists
