Daniel Green says: "He don't
mean to have crooks or thieves." He
may be well meaning in his views,
but I do not know wnat name you
would apply to any citizen who has
no regard for the law. At least I have
always been informed that there was
no law which would permit prostitu
tion to exist If the writer will in
form us how any one can lawfully
advocate such a condition we are al
ways ready to accept information.
You also say, "because men have al
ways sought the prostitute and will
continue to seek her." That fact does
not signify that they have sought
after the things which were most
beneficial to their well-being and the
well-being of their community. We
have always had murderers and al
ways will have, but that does not
mean that our citizens are not striv
ing to decrease the amount of mur
ders and to offer the best solution
available to give us the best protec
You also state that, "if a girl
wants to e;o wrong nothing in the
world will be able to stop her." I am
or the opinion that wherever you find
a girl who has gone wrong there is
also some young man somewhere
who has been in the wrong. I also
wish to ask you not to be alarmed
over the spreading of these inmates.
They should have the same privilege
of living next door to you or me as
has the man who visits them, making
their existence possible
Think these things over and if they
are not found wanting then my time
will not have been wasted. Sylvia J.

FISHING. Mr. J. Morley and A. J.
Schaber are in the same boat with
me, plenty of water but no fish. The
three best places I have so far dis
covered in catching small and large
mouth bass and pickerel is at Mc
Henry, HI., on the Fox river, on the
C. & N. W. Ry., the Fox lake region
on the C. M. & St P. and Glenwood
park ond the Aurora-Elgin elegtric.
I have had fair luck at these places
mentioned, casting the artificial bait.
If the brother anglers haven't been
at these places it would be worth
their time to try them. I would be
glad to meet these brother anglers
if arrangements could be made after

ON VARIOUS THINGS. From
late reports Pres. Wilson is backing
a movement to feed starving Mexico.
Does our government know of the
heartrending poverty in this country
fostered through immigration and
booze? Is this a government for the
people of America or is it for those
of other nations first? When Christ
fed 5,000 he fed those within arm's
reach, not the people thousands of
miles away. Feed Mexico if it is just
and right, but when we do, do not
forget the unemployed in all large
cities of America.
Who knows but that the rain of the
last weeks were not symbolic of tears '
'shed by Christ, whose heart is all but t
crushed with humiliation and agony
not equaled in his crucifixion be- x
cause of the nations in war. America r
as a nation is guilty before God's tri- ,
bunal for supplying arms and ammu- i
nition. Let us cease such action and
because of the part we have taken j
may our executive set a day for pray- j
er and repentance. Then let us lend j
every effort to stop this most awful
carnival of slaughter.
Close to two years the redlight dis-
trict has been closed and immorality ,
is practiced just as much as ever. ,
Conditions are worse. There is no
evidence to show for any good per
formed. There is gruesome evidence
to show against such fraudulent re- -form,
viz., murders and ravishes.
Bunco reformers are useless expend
itures of the city. They are against i
the masses and living by the applause
of the classes.
