The woman prostitute is not a
menace to society so long as she

Let us not see our work as well
done after having "clipped off the

muck in front of our neighbor's door.
If it is direct results we desire when
we "clean up a redlight district," all
well and good, but if we want lasting
corrective measures let us not scat

We can really handle the "social

Protestants whether performed by a

"Anti-Catholics are aware that there
is no better way of prejudicing the
ignorant against the Catholic church
than to represent that the church
holds them to be living in unlawful
wedlock." C H.
WHY'S IT HOT? Why is it warm
in summer time? Is it because the
earth is nearer to the sun than it is
in winter? A Reader.
To understand why we have warm
weather in summer we must under
staad that the earth does not move
around the sun in a circle, but it fol
lows a sort of oval path called an
ellipse. In the northern hemisphere
the earth is now in such a position
in this oval pathway that the sun's
rays strike the earth more directly
than they did six months ago when
it was cold. Because it strikes
straight through the blanket the air )
makes around the earth, and not
slantwise, as it will when the earth
changes its position, we get the full
benefit of the sun's heat, the air is
hot, and we have warm weather.
MARRIAGE AND PROSTITUTION.
According to my point of view in
some cases the difference between
marriage and prostitution is very
slight or there is no difference at alL
I do not Include all the people, nor
do I say that the majority of -them
enter into marriage with no other
motive in view but that of satisfy
ing their lower impulses.
Two people enter into the state of
matrimony with no knowledge of
each other. Their natures run in
separate ways, but they do not trou
ble themselves to find this out It is
not until after marriage, when the
"grand passion" wears away and
their souls are laid bare before each
other that they realize the grave mis
take they have made.
A prostitute sells herself so she can
exist. These girls marry so they can
have a home, no matter what it may
cost them later on. They both pay
their price. A prostitute with broken
health and a ruined existence, and
the girl? In course of time we may
see her in the court of domestic re
lations, either to have her husband &i
support her or suing for a divorce.
Therefore, every man and woman
should have a thorough knowledge
and understanding of their natures.
Marriage is something which Is
placed above the common and ordi
nary things of life. It is the highest
and most honored law of nature and
should be regarded as such. Stella
