ONLY FORTY OF THEM! WHY WORRY ABOUT
, BUTTON-IN-BACK GOWN
BY BETTY. B.B.OWN .
It's here again in ,the forefront of
the fall fashion parade our old
friend, the gown that buttons up or
down the back, and though it may be
a joy forever to woman, there's no joy
it at all for chivalrous man, not If
he's chivalrous enough to button up
his wife's gown.
A new adaptation of the gown that
buttons in the back is designed by
Mme. Marguerite of the Fashion Art
League of America. It is made on
princess lines and the tightly fitted
waist and in the long sleeves and
high collar you may read a prophecy
of styles that prevail this falL
The gown is made of black chiffon
taffeta over a drop skirt of black net
and a foundation of ruffled net in a
vivid shade ow blue. This same blue
is introduced in the girdle.
The buttons are not the oddest
thing about .this gown, the little
thumb strap a loop of black silk
slipping over each thumb.
The silk-covered buttons are
small and there are 40 of them. Some
job for some kind husband!
