Yesterday's win leaves them trail

To grab the pennant the North
Siders must get better than an even
break with the leaders, Pittsburgh, in
the series of six games to be played.
Four Fed wins would mean the flag
for Chicago if Kansas City could hold
St Louis, the third candidate, to an
even break. Five games for the
North Siders would put Pittsburgh
out Qf the running and force St Louis
to win every game with Kansas City
to take the flag.
An even break with Pittsburgh will
kill the Whales' chances. St Loufs
could then cop by taking three out of
four from Kansas City.

teams stand in their league races the
combat to decide city championship
is always hotly followed by fans.

be the first local treat for the football
fans. The Lake Forest institution is
usually high up among the "little

Northwestern cops, but seldom with
many points to spare.
Chicago will not get into the fight
this week. This is probably a good
thing, for the Maroon squad is badly
in need of practice and is just now
getting into fit condition. Pershing,
Scanlon and Brelos are in the hos
pital with sprains and twists.
