BOISE DAM, HIGHEST IN WORLD, COMPLETED;
IRRIGATES 244,000 ACRES

Oct 4 of the Arrowrock dam to im
pound water for the Boise project in
Southwestern Idaho will christen
what is conceded to be an engineer
ing masterpiece. It is the highest
dam in the world. It is the only one
of its kind constructed in the history
of irrigation. Cost $5,000,000.
The Boise project is composed of
244,000 acres of land an empire in
itself. Water to irrigate it is taken
from Boise river. The normal flow
obtainable was not sufficient, so the
Arrowrock dam was conceived to
conceived to conserve additional

The dam reaches a height of 348.5
feet, tapering to a 16-foot crown.
The reservoir formed behind it is
18 miles long, the water in its reach
ing a maximum depth of 260 feet,
enough to flood the city of Boston

the reservoir 3,000,000,000 feet of
timber. It will take 50 years to lift
this over the dam and drop through; $ .'
a cement chute to the river below.
The value of this timber alone is $36,-000,000.
