NOT SO VERY DIGNIFIED BUT THE SHORT COAT,
DOES GIVE THAT YOUTHFUL AIR
BY BETTY BROWN
... "Every inch you add to your coat
below the hip line adds years to your
looks." It was a woman who owns
up to 36 and never wears long coats
who confided to me this "first aid
to a youthful figure."
This design, as might be guessed
from its simplicity and smartness, is
by Mme. Alia Ripley of the Fashion
Art League of America, who has
made short coats famous. In this
model she uses navy blue velour de
lane, which belongs to the velvet
family of fabrics. Tan color braid
makes a simple trimming for the coat
and badger fur finishes the cuffs and
collar -and don't overlook the pouch
pocket.
