WOMAN- BLUFFING WHEN SHE
KILLED HUSBAND IN HOME
Mrs. Jesuita D'Agostinl
Alameda, Cal. Because her hus
band accused her of extravagance,
Mrs. Jesuita D'Agostinl shot and
killed him, -while their two sons, 10
and 11, looked on. She said she
merely shot to bluff him.
"I didn't dream I had shot him,"
she told officers. ''I never thought he
would die. I only got the pistol to
bluff him, as he was in, a violent tern--per,
and I thought he would kill the
babies. It isn't true. I can't believe
he is dead."
The coroner's jury Teturned a ver
dict of manslaughter. The- mother

At a big rally of the regular 22d
ward. Democratic organization, held
In Mozart hall, Clybourn and Halsted
st, Victor J. Schaeffer was put for
ward as a candidate for alderman in
the coming primaries.
Plans were laid by the club, com
posed of men and women, to work for
Schaeffer's success. A hot fight in
the ward is certain.
CLAIM SLAIN DOCTOR'S WIFE
Providence, R. I., Jan. 20. The di
rect charee that Mrs. Elizabeth Mnhr
had declared she "could hire a couple
of tnugs and nave Dr. Monr mur
dered", was made by Geo. Rooks
from the witness stand today, when
he was called by the state in the trial
of the slain physician's widow,
charged with instigating the myste
rious shooting of her husband. -
Rooks is a brother-in-law of Miss
Emily Burger, Dr. Mohr's office as
sistant, who was with him on the
night of the murder and was wound
ed by the shot fired from the dark
