Left, Cleo Smith, called the "human encyclopedia," and hisbrother
Roy, held on charges of violating postal laws; bejow, reproduction of the
typewritten address which led to their arrest when detectives discovered
the letter "S," out of alignment, corresponded to samples of writing on a
typewriter they say the Smith boys used.
Denver, Col., April 3. "The most
remarkable brain in the world" pul
sates today in a prison cell!
Cleo Smith, 28, said by scientists,
at least, to have the most marvelous
mind in the world, the most incom
prehensible brain power known to
science, is charged with violating
postal laws by sending indecent let
'ters through mail.
Smith was born a genius. Scien
tists and psychologists studied his
case. The memory of the tiny lad in
knockerbockers seemed limitless; he
could pack the contents of whole en
cyclopedias into his brain cells.
Science was baffled, but the moth
er of the boy-wonder claimed his
power was the result of'pre-natal in
fluence. Before he was born, she
says, she prayed to have a child of
great mental gifts.
