We baseball fans are forced to the
conclusion that we very much resem
ble Willie Hearst
We get all worked up and shed
salty 'tears about terrible qutrages
occurring in foreign lands, but our
eyes and ears are tightly sealed to
the horrendous doings going on'right
in our own back yards.
Here for two weeks we have been
aiming barbed shafts at the show
ing of the somewhat frazzled White
Sox through the east, throwing fits
at the manner in which the South
Siders have been trimmed with ex
ceeding regularity, and planning
drastic changes in the team without
the formality of consulting President
Comiskey or any of those who are
closely interested. All of us have
been doing it, and the alibi business
has about been played out
And now up pop the statistics of
the pastime and prove to us that we
could have done considerable deplor
ing right here at home, and not been
wasting time.. Consider the -Cubs.
The eastern teams didn't seem to,
and some one must.. ,
