"Well, daughter," he said briskly,
"I must say that young Stuart is a
smart, practical fellow. You know
about the park?"
"Yes, papa," replied Alicia.
"And you know that forty acres-on
the edge of town I've always held on

town to buy it from me for park pur

man chuckled and puffed out and
strutted and, as he told his friends
later, was "pleased all over."
There was no objection to "the in

Alicia came home from a stroll,

MOUSEY COLOR SHOES BUT
GAY STOCKINGS
By Betty Brown
"Mouse" brown is the color of
modish pumps that "peep in and out
beneath her eight-inches-from-the-ground
petticoat."
It's the newest, and, of course, the
most popular shade in footgear,
though gray is by no means out of
favor.
Striped stockings, the stripes
matching the shoes in color, are the
stockings to wear with the new
pumps.
