aire "philanthropist" denounced by
the state's attorney as a taxdodger.
Although Loeb and Rosenwald
deny that the multi-millionaire has
anything to do with the operation of
the schools, the Chicago American
only last week quoted Rosenwald as
being in favor of the stunt which
Loeb was going to pull off.
Court and legislative action are
expected. The teachers may claim
that the board has violated the pro
visions of the injunction against the
Loeb rule and may ask that members
of the board be cited for contempt
It is expected that an attempt will
be made to make the office of trustee
elective, so the people can have a
say in the management of school af
fairs. Margaret Haley, business manager
of the federation, denounced Loeb's
stunt as an attempt to kill the teach
ers' union because of its Chicago
Federation of Labor affiliations.
The list of teachers now jobless as
a result of Loeb's action follows. As
terisks indicate membership in the
Chicago Teachers' Federation. Their
efficiency rating is also shown.
