Not only will allies answer to Germany's peace proposals clearly set forth principles for which entente nations are fight ing, but it will contain general out line of terms. on which England and Mher allies are wilMng tp negotiate, it was confidently expected today. Fact that note would list terms to be demanded of Germany was ex pected as result of an awakening in the last few, days in England that the German propaganda in neutral na tions must be effectively answered. In England much significance in connection with Germany's plea, for peace was seen in Gen. Sir Douglas Haig's review of the Somme battle. British commander-in-chief sum marized result of that fighting, with the-statement:, "The Somme. battle has placed beyond a doubt the abil ity of the allies to gain those objects'" referring to objects for which the allies--are fighting.
