McTigue, another left-hander, may

named there, but it is probable only
eight will be carried.
Tom Seaton will undoubtedly have
another crck at the minor league
if no other big league club wants
him.
In the exhibition games with the
coast teams Steve Yerkes is iitting
in the clean-up position, the place re
served for Larry Doyle. That fact
is significant. In the face of physi
cians' dictums it is fair proof that
Doyle will be in the game in a short
time. Otherwise, Vic Saier would be
shifted into the fourth notcli in the
batting order, for Yerkes is certain
ly not a clean-up walloper.
Oakland scored seven times in one
inning off Dutch Reuther, beating
the Cubs, who counted twice on a
wallop by Deal. Carter and Perry
pitched fine ball.

Horace Lean, Chicago, gained a
point in his three-cushion champion
ship billiard match with ' Champion
Charles McCourt, scoring 51 to 50.

the final series of the K C. Indoor

Joe Shaw of Chicago rolled into
second place in the singles in the A.
B. C.v bowling tournament at Grand
Rapids with a count of 683.
University of Chicago swimmers
defeated Northwestern, 37 to 31, in
the Bartlett gym pool. Walter Earle,
Maroon junior, won three firsts and
set two new Conference records. In
the 40-yard swim he finished in 19
seconds, and in the 100 yards he low
ered the old mark to 57 3-5 seconds.
Yale won the eastern intercollegi
ate basketball championship by de
feating Princeton, 42 to 16.

A COW IN THE CITY
Milk will probably go as high as 12
cents a quart during the coming
summer. The Borden Milk Co. has '
taken the lead in the move for high
er prices. Yesterday they signed a
new, contract with milk producers
which, they insist, will force them
to raise the retail price. The other
big firms are expected to fall in line
during the next few days.
Health Com'r Robertson yesterday
charged that food hogs are hoarding
potatoes in hope there will be a rail
road strike, in event they will make a
clean-up at the expense of the peo
ple. C. B. Campbell of the Consumers
Co. says Chicago will be without
coal in 15 days if the railroad strike
is called. -

will have spent $16,000,000,000 for
