Death and Injury Building Wrecked and

Leak Blamed.
Three are known dead and be
tween 30 and 50 were injured in an
explosion in the restaurant of Alex
Chebookos, 177-179 N. Halsted st,
at 12:10.
The restaurant was crowded with
the noonday rush. Men were thrown
from the chairs by the blast and bur
ied under falling walls. Women em
ployes of the restaurant were among
the injured.
