REPTJBUC SPECIAL.
New York. July ?. Sales tf tenda ireie rads
ber to-day as fallows:
Klrst Cnll.
Pospibility of a New War Loan in
London Queensland Loan
a Failure.
REPCBLIC EPECIAL.
New Tork. July 9. Tliera -was scarcely
any ttriklns change In th London market,
but American stocks upon tha whole, trera
fairly flrrn. The feneral market was steady
Rnd consols practically unchanged on the
day. Money iraa in rather more aemand
in London at t'i. per cent, but thera were
no chances in other European centers. Ex
change remained low in Paris and Berlin.
The Chinese news ivas a littlo better, al
though rather ledeflnito and mostly rumors.
In the. local market Each moves as -were
naio were based for the most part on dlvl-
c"end talk, and tny strength waa due to
cause. The buying in Illinois Central
rtoked a good deal more like manipulation
than Inside operations, and the best Infor
mation In the street did not confirm the ru
mors of an increased dividend. There was
rpeculatlon of the probable dividend upon
"Louisville and Nashville, some traders ex
pectins 2 per cent flat, while the more gen
eral idea took the form of l-4 P" cent and
H per cent extra. The Jersey Central dec
laration ef G per cent caused very little
Etlr. Some anxiety was beginning to be
felt about the corn crop, and this probably
was the basis of the sales In the granger I
Ftocks made for Chicago.
