Exhibition of Thoroughbred Hereford ar.d
Shorthorn Cattle began here to-elay. The
show opened with the exhibition of bulls, 3
years old or over, in clas 1, for breeding
stock. SItteen finely groomed Herefords
were brought Into the arena, and eleven
leaders of the shorthorn breed were placed
n?mnitf them. There was nn H!rc cm. I
j petition between the two breeds except as
tne 1.W3 spectators carcu to compare them,
tut there were eight prizes offered for each
breed. The contest for bulls between 1 and .
S j ears old brought out twenty-one short- '
rorn3 and twenty-seven Herefords. Slany
of these young bulls weighed from 1,0") to
j.(w pounds. Probably none of the bulls
shown to-day is valtxel at less than tZ.U.
The sale of shorthorns will begin next
Thursday and the sale of Herefords will
begin next Slonday.
