were said to have been only :M).l)W bu. las-t
week, and London cables stated thit tho
t rop of that country w ould be smaller than
k-,st year's. All the markets on this sale
to sell, and Dec. sold off to TlKc. and Jl.iy
had sellers at OFiC. the bottcm prices for
the day. On the reaction which then took
placo lec went back to Tic again, nnd
TT1MaT7,o was bid for May. but as Con
tinental cables did uot corae as expected the
market eased off ajtaln, Dec. selling down
to THic and May offering at 7STc Ant
werp was reported lc lower than yester
lav, Paris was off v.i4c; Berlin unchanged,
but Buda-Pesth V'C lower. Liverpool held
up welL and closed at tho opening advajico
if sJd. The clearances from this side were
disappointing, at U1.0OJ bu. In flour uid
wheat.
Thera was some buying late on advices
from Chicago that wheat was a buy. hut
the market was nervous and tfiisettlcU. The
cash situation was unsatisfactory, the
amounts taken beinc small, and the week's
clearances of 3.79i,HiO bu. were 5."J,0 bu.
smaller than last week and 30.0C0 bu. below
last year. Durlns tho last half hour Dec.
did not get above TZc or May TTH'uvUc, nor
below 72H and 7GTic. respectively. At the
elose Oct. was nominal ut l.c advance, at
72c. Dec H9U3 higher, at :Ttc bid. and
May lio better, at 77Uc bid.
Tho extremely heavy export business at
the seaboard yesterday did not appear to
have any stremrthenins effect upon the
local corn market this mornimr. Jn the
llrst place, there was no evidence of
strength, and secondly, speculation was
practically nil. Liverpool did not show any
effects of tho big exports either, as It closed
id lower for the day, and the London
market was oft ?ld also, while the Argen
tine was reported to hae shipped but
3M.000 bu. during last week. The weather
was all teat could hate been desired as
fRr as the gathering of the crop was con
cerned, and the cash market was weak.
As far as the Cay's receipts at Western
markets were concerned, there was no
chtrge of Importance, the arrivals amount
ing to 63S.00Q bu.. against D17.9i bu. a year
ago. At this market there was Tj.200 bu.
received, against o3AO bu. last year. Ship
ments from Western markets wero 4 tl,W)
hu., and tho export clearances from Atlan
tic and Gulf ports very small at lTLWO bu.
Oct. was particularly weak this morning,
owing to the cash situation, and declined
sharply, opening .c lower, at 37V.C, and
declining sftlll more later. Dec sold 1-tiC
lower at C3Tc. while for May SJHc was bid.
find later it was offered at that. Thero
were advices from Chicago of an active
cash demand there, and export business
there and at New York of 0..'" bu. were

STc to 36"lc. closing He ofT. at the latter
risked. The week's clearances were I'.SSS,
sor. bu.. against :.S3-j.i" tu. last week, nnd
5,C,O0O bu. a year ago.
The speculative market for oats attracted
tut slight attention, and for that matter
was practically neglected, there being no
dealings during the day. There were bids
of 2,iic for Dec and H?io for May. Oct.
was nominal at c decline, at 2:-tc. West
ern market receipts were 413 0'JO bu.. acalnst
415,000 bu. a year ago. including K.0n bu.
locally, against 15.100 bu. last year. Ship
