LOCAL EAGING Fitzkanct Won the Six-Furlong Handicap at Delmar From Miss Mae Day and Kindred. CHICAGO TUKF Auditor Beat Miss Crawford In Two-YeurOld Ilace at the Haw thorne Track. AQUATICS sr Southwestern Association's Rpgat- ns To-Day at .Creve Coeur s n FITZKANET WON BR1LLIANI C , Fon of Filzjaincs Got Away Slowly Hut Kan Sis Furlongs in 1:14 Flat. MOULIN ROUGE ALMOST BEATEN Troxler Eased Up the 2-to-5 Favor ite in the Stretch and Sadie Uurcli Almost Nipped Her on the Tost. Mr. Hoscrs'a Fitzkanet vron the fastest nsco of the Delmar meeting when he can tered over MJss Mae D.iy and Kindred In the Elx-furlons handicap yesterday after noon. The game bon of Fltzjames was sent , to the post fit to run tlio race of his life, Vut many wise bettors would have notbins to do nith him because Sheehan was up. Mae Day and Kinilred shared favoritism at 1G to S. while Fitzkanct was as Kooj as Cs In tho rlnc. Mr. Rogers told his friends his horse would win sure, and the stable played a nice commission on the horso. Troxler threw M:sa Mae Day out in front us the barrier went up. and the railblrda toesan to cry. "Miss Mao Day." Fitzkaupt broke slowly and on th outside. lie took his time going up. went to Mae Day at tho stretch turn, and came home leisurely, tev rral lengths to the good, in 1:14, by far the fastest time of tho Delmar meeting and within one-quarter of a second of the track iccord for the distance. Fitzkanet will be very hard to beat In any company Just 2ioTv. He Is sound as a dollar and In raro good form. Doctor Cartledge was pounds the best In the 2-ycar-old race and won It hands down, just as The Republic said he would. The wise bookmakers laid 2U to 1 acalnst tho lame and sore Quaker Girl, and 7s and j ft. against Cartledge F. Smith gave tho latter a good ride and brought him home all olono. Quaker Girl was never a contender. Just why Rogers started her Is a mystery unless it waj tp make a price against Fitzkanet, and to Bee that requires somo fcubtlo race-track reasoning Indeed. TROXLER'S CARELJ2SS FINISH. Troxler almost threw away the first race when he eased up Moulin Rouge In tho last quarter of tho first race. Rouge was a pronibitlve favorite at 2 to 5. and not many bettors would havo cared had she lost, but there would havo been no salva tion for Troxler had this happened. The tilly broke In front and opened up a cap cf twenty lengths in the first quarter. Comlne down riio stretch. Troxler ulanced over Ids shoulder, saw the field in the hazy u,accLiiv;u uiiu uean uikius uu wraps, u. Austin brought Sadie Burch. a 20-to-l shot, up with a whoop, and. although every one In the grand stand saw tho favorite's tiunger, Troxler apparently uid not. He continued to tako wraps till ho could tako no more. and. just as Moulin Rougo crossed the line Burch passed her. It was a heart-breaking finish for those "who had bet their money on the favorite at i to S, and probably will mako them a bit timid about betting on another odds-on fa vorite for a long time. Judge Brady had. Troxler in the stand and gave him some eound advico after this race. F. Mimo showed enough last time to beat Olonctz and Tioga In the second. If sho carries her speed and runs back to her spring form she will win. Olonetz Is al ways right there and should beat lloga for place although the latter ran a better race last time out tnan was expecieu, uau mu not get any the best of the break. 1 alymer bruce looks good, On his race Thursday, when he ran away half a mile to a false break, then ran with fh rar- nil tlin wnv when the racs wis tne pace an ine wai wnen ino race waa on and finished fourth, beaten a couple of lengths, Bennett's Alymer Bruce should win the third euro. One of the d'Ors should win the Home Bred Stakes. Mr. Muikcy has two good ones In Bas d'Or and Croix d'Or. and the better of the two at the distance should take the fir.it money in the stake. Bas d'Or seems to have more class, but be is not the sprinter that his half sister Is. At that, he will about win. Actlne hasn't been heard of for so long that she has been almost for gotten, but If she Is anywhere near her form of last year, when she won at 100 to t first out. she will not be worse than second. Zlrl gels In light and will be well ridden. She should be even money to show and should cash for her backers. LIGHT OPERA MAY WIN. The handicap Is like all of the Maglnn handicaps hopeless. Light Opera might win It. but Bonner must hold him stralght'er than hs did Lasso Thursday, when the Lemp stable cleaned up $3,000 by a necr,. Orris Is game and true and should be fresh and ready. She will be right there. Lady Strathmore Is not Lady Strathmore. as The Republic has remarked befo're, but, with three pounds ofT her race day before yes terdu, when she ran third to Malstei in his good raco and would have been second ln another stilde. she should not be worse than third to-day. JOSIB AXD ELLA. Josle F. and Llndenella have tho fifth between them. Josle Is right on edge as proven by her easy victory in the mile race with special i the day before yesterday, a distance gen me'nt1 f5r rav believed to be short for her. Llnden ella ;nas tier oia-time early speed and is a sweet mare when right. She was a bit short last time out In a shorter race and may be hardly up to a mile and an eighth yet. Watch out for Ivernia, Remember what the Sire brothers have done with ber two times before at 40 to 1. No one knows how i good she Is. She has won both races com 1 ing from behind, and Breedcn knows how to ride with these boys around here, Iver nia tics up with higher-class animals to day, but should be watched.
