the Maricopa and l'lia-nix railroad com
pany's property and it was ordered that
thoAf-soSi-or place said statement on the
assessment roll of Maricopa comity
under tho proper heading and with tho
aluo of tho assessed property therein
Tho Southern raciflc. is assessed for
right of way, road bed, seventy-ono
miles of telegraph and real estato, in
this county, between Aztec and Gila
Bend, at $402,074.10. Tho buildings,
lollingstock and other personal property,
$1:50,423.84 ; total, $532,500. Tho assess
ment of seventy-ono miles of main road
is at the rate of $7,500 per inilo.
Tho l'luenix and Maricopa railroad
is assessed for23.57 miles of track and
telegraph at tho rato $5,500 per mile.
Valuation of road bed, track and real
estate, $118,741.70. UuiUlinjjs, other
improvements and personality, $10,
893.24. Total assessment, $129,035.
Permission was granted to thel'licenix
Electric Light company to erect poles
and hang wires along Washington street
through Murphy's and Collins' addition,
provided that such wires shall not hang
lower than twenty feet from tho
ground and that tho poles or wires shall
not interfere with (ravel.

was shown that Quong lias a murderous
mania, so ha was committed to the In

institution but a few weeks. His mad
ness is of about three years' standing,
and is traced by his Chineso bretheren
to tho loss of about $3000 in a "tan"game.
Letters of administration were issued
to Henrv Gurflas upon the estato of his

pier, where boats from San Francisco, Ban Diego
and other points make regular landlngs..Steam
and sailing yachts can bo had. The fishing is
the finest on the coast. There is a bluff and in
terior drive, commanding a fine view of the
ocean, San Gabriel valley, Wilson's Peak, Old
Baldy, Sierra Mcdro range of mountains. Terms
