A MYSTERIOUS FIRE.
Destruction of Dick Vincent's
Home.
The sweeping Away of b Nest Which
Ha Had Elostantly Prepared
for His Bride.
A dwelling house belonging to Dick
Vincent, eeven miles wesi ol the city in
the Cartwright district, was barnod
lte night before last with all its con
tents. The origin of the fire Is a mystery, as
Mr. Vincent was absent from home at
tho time, having gono to his brother's,
bo lives in the same neighborhood, to
sur all night; there had been, no fire
in the house the day before. The con
tents of the building, consisting of fur
niture and clothing were of consider
able value. The owner is to bo married
shortly and had for some time beon en
giged in preparing a homo for his
bride.
An investigation of tho origin of the
fire will possibly develop an interesting
tnd almost romantic story.
Mr Vincent will be roraembered as
ore of the candidates before the Demo
cniii convention last fall for the offlco
o! county recorder.

A week from next Saturday, at the

witnessing one oi tne Hardest cowboy
contests that the territory has seen for
many a day. It will be for a total puree
to the winner of $300 tho contestants
being Doc Good win and Stewart Knight.
Tho former. Doc Goodwin, broke- the
world record last spring in Charley
Meadows' Wild West combination tying
a steer in forty-eight seconds, repeated
in Hfty-two seconds. Stewart Knight
defeated Charles McUary at Flagstaff,
who is one of the roost noted eteer-tyers
of the west, a year ago. Knight has
been barred out of all cowboy contests
of Yavapai county during the past two
years, xnus it will be seen that the
bat tlo will be one of exceptional Bkili
and endnrance as Stewart has struck in
Goodwin an opponent who has no fears
of his prowess or past record.
