The corpse wore a wig, and it was very diffi cult to induce it to stay on straight, as wigs ought always to do,- even if they don't. The bereaved widow was Called in to assist. "Go an' git me a pot os" glue, Mrs. McGovern," said the undertaker, "so that I may keep his wig where it belongs." Mrs. McGovern set out after the sticking material, and after a time she returned. "Here is the glue for ye," she said with a sigh. "Mrs. McGovern, you can take' back the mucilage," said the un dertaker, "I used a tack." Buffalo Times. As a diplomat, Secretary Hay is always slightly ahead of pub lic opinion, but as time rolls on his policy invariably turns out to have been right. A Farmer Straightened Out. "A man living on a farm near here came in a short time ago completely doubled up with rheu matism. Patterson, have this day associated ourselves together for the purpose of forming a corporation under the laws of the 'lemtory oi Arizona, and wo do hereby certify: 1. That the name of the corporation shall be BANK Oy YUMA, and its principal place of transacting business shall be at the town of Yuma, in the county of Yuma and territory of Arizona. 2. That the general nature of the business pro posed to be transacted by the corporation is banking in all its forms. 3. That the amount of capital stock authorized is one hundred thousand dollars, and the num ber of shares into which it is divided is one thousand, of the par value of one hundred dol lars each, which amount is to be paid in at the times and upon the conditions which may be prescribed by the by-laws of the corporation. 4. That the time of the commencement of said corporation shall be the date upon which the filing or the articles of incorporation in the office of the County Recorder of Yuma county and of the Secretary of the Territory of Arizona is ncrfejted. and the time of its termination shall b ; twenty-five years thereafter, unless re newed by vote of the stockholders as provided by law. 5. ThaLthe officers of said cerebration to con duct its affairs shall consist of a board of di rectors, consisting of no . less than three nor more than five stockholders, as" the by-laws of the cornoration mav prescribe. The said ooara of directors shall be elected at such times and places and in such manner as the by-laws may prescribe. 6. Upon motion, voted, carried, all bids received as result of ad vertisement ordered at last meeting were rejected i Clerk is- instructed to return certified checks to the respective owners, Clerk is instructed to Notify road overseer of district No. 1 to post notices under Par. 8979, R. S., with reference to proposed county road from Orange avenue at city limits, thence west to valley, connecting with road sur vey No. 25, made 1897. J. M. Speese and Mulford Winsor, Sr., are hereby appoint ed viewers to act with the county surveyor in viewing out said road. Chairman reports the approval, of the following bonds: S. M. Wilson, notary public, April 17, 1903. G W. Norton,- road overseer, April 22, 1903. T. B. Bell, live stock inspect or, May 2, 1903, Chairman reports the appoint ment, by the president and vice president of the county board of public health, of Henri Ap John as health officer of Yuma county,- Resignation of A. G. Gross man as justice of the peace, Lyons precinct, received and accepted. Clerk is instructed to notify tbe county treasurer to refund unto P. M.- Riley, purchaser of tax certificate No. 12 and tax re ceipt No.-120, -the money paid for such certificates- by the purchaser,- with interest thereon at 7 per cent per annum, upon the" delivery of said certificates, and that said certificates be canceled? for the reason that there was and is not any property now ex isting which answers the descrip tion given in said certificate. Clerk is instructed to notify E. P. Sanguinetti,- county treasu rer, to turn over to the sheriff the blankets now in the custody of the treasurer which had been- re ceived by him from the coroner. Petition received frcm citizens of Harrisburg, praying for new road district described as follows:- Ha f qua Hala on the south, Desert Mine and Granite Wash on the west, Culling's Wells on the north, and county Ijne on Phoenix road on' the east.- Coun ty roads' desired are: Road to5 Harqu:a Hal'a via Rio Del Monte; a' road to Desert Mine and Gran ite Wash; a road through pass through Culling's Wells, and a road east Pho'enix road to county line. Petition also prays for the' appointment of B. J. Quiun as road overseer. Upon- motion voted, carried, the petition is granted, district to be known as district No. 8, and Jill the roads therein men tioned are hereby declared to bef county roads; Clerk is instructed to notify B.-J.- Quinn of his appointment as road overseer of district No. 8 and that he is required to fur nish bond in the sum of l,-000?; Clerk is instructed to notify the county treasurer to transfer' from county general road fund to road district No. 8 fund, $200.- On motion, board adjourned until ,- 1503.
