He is a scholar, and unusually well qualified to give instruction in every department of science. Miss Kellogg is an accomplished and successful teach er. Her drawings and paintings are not surpassed bv any of the kind ever seen in this vicinity. Mrs. Gould's musical education, acquired in Europe, under some of the most eminent masters her long ex perience and success, entitle her to rank among the very best teachers of music in our country. By a late act of Congress, the officers and privates, or their heirs, of the war of 1812, in Indian wars, Florida and Mexican wars, and all who have been engaged in the service of the United States, are entitled to bounty land, according to their term of seivice. All who served in the war of 1812, or any Indian war since 1790, nine months, are entitled to 160 acres of land ; 4 months, 80 acres ; 1 month. 40 acres. If they have died leaving a widow, or child under age, they are entitled; no other relative is entitled. Those who en listed to serve fortwelve months, or during the war with Mexico, are entitled to 160 acres of land ; six months, 40 acres; and if they served in Mexico three months, extra pay. It they he dead, the widow or children, if any, are entitled; if no widow, or children, the father; if neither, " the mother ; and if all be dead, the brothers and siste are entitled.
