The coming session promises to be espe- j junction with the' exhibition of the Virginia Pomologieal and Horticultural Society, and ■it a great central point, farther South than any previous session of the institution. Tntß meeting will, therefore, it is believed be one of the most useful, m a national point of view, than has ever been held by tlie Society, thus affording an opportunity not only to examine the fruits ol the South in comparison with those of the North, the West and of Hie Pacific Slope, which it is expected will be freely contibutod, but also In foster and perpetuate the amicable and social relations which have heretofore ex isted between the members of the Society, and to widely dilfuse the result ol its delib erations for the benefit of our constantly expanding territory. _ The climate of \ irgima and adjacent Stales is believed to be admirably adaptetl to the culture of fruits, especially the pear, the gmpe and the strawberry.
