B. A. Packard has returned from a
trip to Ilermoslllo.
E. T.-Pecott, of Douglas, Is spending
a tew days with friends in Bisbeo.
J. J. Newell came up from Naco yes
terday and returned this morning.
"Vm. Stover, a prominent merchant
from Fronteras, came in yesterday.
M. Collot and J. M. SuiU, of Sonora,
are registered at the Bessemer hotel.
GusTandau came up from the Can

W. J. Lewis came up from D uglas
Tuesday and returned on Wednesday
R. Toohey came up from Douglas
yesterday and will remain in town a
J. D. Moore, a prominent oil pros
pector of Beaumont, Texas, is in Bis

M. L. Tkbei.nr, of Portland, Ore.,
was an outgoing passenger yesterday
morning for Tucson.
The Mexican bull fighters and at
tendants paraded through the streets
of Bisbee yesterdaj.
Miss Nellie NIcl.ols, who is teaching
school at Turquoise, is spending the
holidays with relatives in Bisbee.
F. C. Fenner, connected with the
Pacific Coast Coal company, is visiting
relatives in Bisbee during the holidays.
Dr. A. P. Butiow returned from a
flying trip to Morencl and will leave
for hia post at Nacozari in a day or two

A. J. McDermott is up from his
property" in the Solomon Sprints conn
try and will remain in Bisbee over
Thomas Pepers, Charles Arnson and
W. W. Webb have returned from the
Philippines and will remain in Bisbeo
for a few days.
The ball given by the Rathbone Sis
ters at the opera house, last evening,
was largely attended and was a most

John Osier, forman of the Demo

ehuca mountains, are spending the
holidays in Bisbee.
S. F. Meguirre, of tho International
Laud company, came up from Douglas
Tuesday and will remain in Bisbee
during the holidays.
Chas. L. Thayer, a prominent man
of Albuquerque, New Mexico, came in
yesterday and left the same evening
for Nacozari, where he will make his
Arthur Keech, secretary of the In
ternational Miners' Association, after
a short trip to the Cananeas, returned
to Bisbee Monday and left Wednesday
for his home in El Paso.
Don't forget the charity ball on the
night of the 27th. This is deserving
of liberal patronage and the ladies in
charge have spared no pains to make
this ball a grand success.
L. A. Hohstadt, a prominent mining
man of Placeritas, Sonora, came np
yesterday to spend a few days in Bis
bee. Mr. Hohstadt reports much
activity 2 mining in the San Miguel

One of the best attractions during
the holidays in the line of window dis
plays is the Xmas tree at Skinner's.
There is a package of something good
or a present for nearly everyone, and
it is qnite unique throughout.
Martin O'Hare leaves this morning
for Bangor, Maine, on business con
nected with the disposal of some min
ing property in this vicinity In which
he is heavily interested. It is stated
-that a good sum will be paid cash down.
The directors of the Napoleon Gold
Mining company are arranging for an
excursion to the Napoleon Gold mine
on tbe morning- of December 26. The
fare for .the round trip will be one dol
lar. This Is a wonderful property and
is a sight well worth seeing.
Tbe New Year's reception which waa
to be given by the Women's Club at
the residence of Mrs. R. C. Morgan
has been canceled and will not be held
on New Years day, as Intended, owing
to tbe many previous engagement of
members of the club for that day.
G. Milbe, s prominent banker and
merchant of Naco, Sonora, came'.np
yesterday with the bull fighters and
Naco band. Mr. Milbe reports the
sale of a large number of seats to tbe
-fichu and all of the boxes have been
disposed of and a large crowd will at
tend the opening of the Naco ball ring.

The sale of seats for the polite com
edy "Too Rich To Marry" will open
at Skinner's Thursday. The cast pre
senting Edward Owings, Town's great
comedy success, is exceptionally strong.
Among the best known of the players
is Ed Redmond, who made such a suc
cess in the comedy "Prince Romlro."
Among others, the company includes
the following well-known players:
Arthur Smith, R B. Brown. Ed Red
mond,, Fred Armstead, Jessie Brink,
Jessie F.mison, Estelle Redmond.
The Chemical fire department now
has an organization numbering twenty
active young men, who are showing
considerable Interest in tbe work
of making the chemical fire engine
a valuable acquisition to the town in
the way of a protection against fire.
The boys are arranging to give a ball
In the near future, the proceeds of
which are to be devoted to the pur
chase of helmets and rubber coats. The
young men cat rest assured of liberal
patronage for any affair which .looks
towards the better efficiency of the
Chemical fire department.
B. F. Hoyt, of Globe, Is in the city
and will remain for a few days. Mr.
Hoyt is engaged in proving up oil fields
in a geologicul way in Old Mexico,
Utah, Colorado snd Wyoming. He Is
backed by a company of Globe peoplo
who have great faith in his abilities In
locating oil fields. Mr. Hoyt has just
returned from a trip into Mexico, two
hundred and fifty miles south of tho
international line", where he located a
rich oil field and brought back several
pounds of surface rock which proves
conclusively to him that oil will be
found in abdndance In that vicinity.
