Bashful Amazons Bring Domestic Dis pute Into Court Unfounded Report That Chinamen Were Hiding Here. (Special to Review.) Douglas, July 15. Colonel Griffen, of Orman & Crook, returned yesterday from. Cos and Nacozari. where he went to see about the extension of the Naco zari road. He said that the work was progressing rapidly. There are now six camps, and between 500 and 600 men are employed In the various camps. At present Colonel Griffen could not state just when the grade would be ready for the steel to be laid. As to the labor question. Colonel Griffen stated that the reported scarcity of labor was somewhat ex aggerated. The labor market in this particular section of Sonora is not overflowing, but there are lots of idle men in other parts of Mexico who are beginning to come to this -section foriPas: work, and Mexicans from Chihuahua '. are beng brought in, and prove to be i better workers in many ways than the 5inrtM tfilinrte. Kelly, of The Review, is in Douglas today on business. Mr. Andrews, the customs broker. has left Douglas for a short business trip. D. W. Semple, representing the ad vertising department of The Review, is in Douglas today, making arrange ments for the magazine issue of the paper, which will come out Sunday. Douglas will be given the most com plete write-up lt has had In its history. The Hlnes residence in this city is being fitted with the very latest plumbing fixtures. When completed, this house will have the very best fix tures that have ever been brought to Arizona. Joseph Schwartz is doing the plumbing. Last night another big shipment of Mexicans passed through Douglas for Forrest. There were thirty-two In the party, and they came from El Paso. Tags in their hats said that they were sent out by the White Employment Agency. Mr. Snow, of he Baldwin locomotive works, of Philadelphia, left yesterday for that city. He delivered the new eight-driver engine to the EI Paso & Southwestern company. Mr. Temple, of the La Cananea road, returned to La Cananea last night, af ter a short visit in this city. Mr. McAfee, the contractor who is to build the addition to the Queen ho tel, is In the city, and will start the work at once. Forty rooms will be added, besides sample room, reading room and bar. The work Is to be fin ished by the 1st of October. Mr. Frank Dorr, editor of the Dis patch, is moving into his residence on East Seventh street. J. A. Lewandowski, (he manufactur ers' agent for mining machinery, left this morning for Cos, where he gees to inspect a mining property and to make arrangements to put in a couple of ten stamp mills. Mr. Lewandowski will have some valuable mining news to make public upon his return to this city. Emil Marks, president of the Mar quette & Arizona Mining company, passed through Douglas this morning on his way to Baltimore. He was accompanied by Mrs. Marks. He said that the Marquette is making a show ing that was entirely satisfactory to him. Jim Shorten, who for some time has been in Naco, is now In the employ of T Siebold. Theo. Siebold has been out of own a short time, looking after a mining property he Is Interested in. Work on the Douglas postoflice building Is progressing rapidly. The brick work is beginning to look like something, and some idea of what a fine postoffice building Douglas Is go ing to have can low be formed. In a short time work will be begun on two $10,000 flats which are to be built in this city at once. Mr. E. R. Pirtle Is authority for the above state ment. The little son of A. A. Billlngsley Is very III.. The plant of tne Douglas American Is now in running older, and the Sinv plex type setting machine is at worK. The first issue of the new Douglas weekly will be out Sunday. A. W. Phillips, of Los Angeles, has accepted a position with the Dougla3 Drug company. He takes the place of Mr. Bruce, who has returned to BIsbee. Dr. Wright returned last night from El Paso, where he has been on busi ness. L. Wuench. one of the best known mining engineers in this part of the country, left 4his morning to examine some mining property in Sonora. Charles Schuster left Douglas this afternoon in his Packard auto, car for BUbee. John Slaughter, accompanied by his wife, came into Douglas today from their ranch, the San Bernardino. Wj B. That at a special meeting of the stockholders of the Red Rock Mining and Milling company, held at BIsbee, Arizona, on the 5th day of May, A. Border City of Marvels to Have Sys tem of Lights Which Will Rival Those of Larger Cities of Coast. (Special to Review.) Douglas, July 15. Last night the first electric lights that have ever burned in Douglas were turned on in the power house of the Douglas im provement company. Two small gen erators were belted to the engine and started, and the engine room at the power plant was lighted by electricity. Tonight the poles for the town cir cuit will be here, and as soon as possl. ble will be set up and wired. The dynamos are on the road, and are ex pected to arrive any day. The ejgin3 which will run the generators is a tan dem compound, which will be run at 240 revolutions, developing 160 horse power. The engine and dynamos will start at full load ,as many people have signed for electric lights in their homes and business houses. Another engine and dynamo has been ordered, and the boiler capacity will be increased, maklne the rtnuri, electric and ice plant one of the most complete in the country. vtKY REMARKABLE CURE OF DIARRHOEA.
