EXTRA INNING GAMES.
August was a month of extra in
ning baseball games. The Chicago
White Sox established a record of
eighty-nine Innings In eight games, in
three of which the Waabington Club
figured aa opponents. Evidently peev
ed that they should be tutetl for such
record making purposes by the Chi
cago American Leaguers the Wash
ington players proceeded to go the
White Sox one better by continuing
the extra session games at St. Louis
and New York until they had amassed
a record of 102 innings in nine games.
IMPORTANT EARLY FOOTBAAL.
The coming Saturday will witnesa
several football games In the east
with possibilities of upsets. Prince
ton will play Rutgers and coach Hush
of tbe Tigers and coach Sanford of
Rutgers both realise that the game Is
hardly the early season training con
test jMHMlly scheduled for the first
week of October. Yale will hay the
University of. Vlrglnfe n an oppon
ent and tbe southerners with the mem
ory of that 21 to 0 defeat of a year
ago hope to slip over something In the
way of a surprise despite the fact that
Yale this season appears to be much
stronger than in 1914. Georgetown,
with an unusually heavy eleven, is
expected to give the Middles plenty of
opposition at Annapolis.

Captain Glick.
The football snirit of 1811 has
been revived at Princeton this fall
and Captain Glick hopes to lead the
Tigers to the 1916 championship.
Many of last year's players are on
hand to help Princeton win this fall.
FANS SHOULD TURN
OUT IN FORGE TO
SEE TODAY'S GAME
One of the closing games of the
1915 season will be staged this after
noon when the Boosters and Grays
clash again at Warren Park. A spe
cial appeal is made to tbe fans of tbe
Warren District to turn out In force
and give the players a tangible demon
st ration of appreciation for eflorta
which have given local lovers of the
national game a weekly chance ,to see
their favorite pastime during the past
several months.
All the fans know what nif.y bo ex
pected when the Boosters and Grays
clash surely nothing short of a game
in which every. Oliver ia striving: his
uo to wt ' MimMtti between
tbe two local rtnUa . sWtsajsftfly
attracted a much greater show of la
terest than the games with outside
teams.
Somehow or other, there seems to
be some particular, incentive to win
which actuates every player of both
teams, whenever the Grays and Boost
ers come together.
There is no reason in the world
why, with clear skies, there shouldn't
he a record crowd at Warren Park
trday. There's but little time Jeft to
snow appreciation ot ue players ana
managers' efforts. Aside from being
moved by a natural desire to see a
hotly contested game, the fans should
be anxious to take advantage of one
of the last opportunities of showing
ihat they appreciate unselfish efforts
to provide good sport.

the elevens which will compete for

as the logical favorites, although there
Ik the chance that Coarh Stagg may
pull something not on the cards at

problematical on account of the fact

Jack Coombs, one of the' Superbas'

proposition after a conference with
President Ebbets ot the Brooklyn

Again has Joe- Tinker, manager of

Boston scribes are not slow in ex
pressing their disapproval of tbe re

Just why the Hub baseballers should
be deemed so unquestionably ahead ot
the leaders of tbe older league. Both
the Phillies and Red Sox have been
going like the wind of late and to one
on the outalde it appears as It the
problem of picking the winner might
be a hard one for the closest followers
of the records of both nines. If the
present interest is maintained there
should be considerable betting among
residents of tbe District who are will
ing to occasionally back their opinions
with their currency. Whether or not
those who like the Bostonlans think
enough of their Judgement to offer
odds becoming to Uieir confidence is
another question.

to make the plan a reality Is the ac

the many former Biltish subjects in
the Warren District, undoubtedly
there are many who were skilled in
the favorite English game.
