Celebration: The festival of Corpus
Chrisii was celebrated by the Mexican portion
of the inhabitauts of Tucson, on Thursday,
with all the pomp and solemnity which char
acterize religious celebrations among the Span
iards and their descendants. Some of the
principal streets were studded on either side
with green boughs gathered the previout uight.
Arches and shades constructed of gauze and
decorated with flowers etc., were eree'ed at
various points on the streets ami plazas. The
procession numbering mere than a thousand
men, women and children march d throuch
the various ornamented streets while appropri
ate music by the "band," in front. lent addi
tional solemnity to tho occasion. At 10 o'clock
the procession reached the church which was
duly ornamented for tho occasion; here the
celebration ended, after some further ceremo
