A baptizing at the lake last Sun
day, in which one of the Miss Rich
artisons was immersed, drew quite a
crowd to the water's edge.

The battles between the "allied
forces" and the Chinese have been
hotly contested this week, and, while
the "iorces have lost heavily, they
have been quite successiul in their
undertakings, showing very conclu
sively that uhmese soldiers are no
match for; Caucasian soldiers. Let's
pray and trust that the missionaries
win be rescued by the "allied forces''
before the blood-curdling Boxer will
liave an opportunity to wreak his
Gieadlui vengeance upon them, but
let pray and trust that war will end
when the Chinese lay down their
arms and surrender to the '"allied
iorces."
