IN A SEASON that offers so much
diversity In stylos ns we find this
spring, women Imvo nil sorts of op
portunity to please themselves, .and
therefore Individualism tins marked
this time for Its own. So many peri

drawn upon for Inspirations I But they
nrc only Inspirations that lend it flavor
nioro or less strong to the various
styles of today.
Naturally, In this case, tho silhou

wide hip lines nnd the straight up-nnd-down
figure, ns may be gathered from
the Illustration of two afternoon
frocks which nppenr here. One of
these frocks Is mnde oC blue tnffctn

the cascaded pannier drapery at each
side of the skirt supporting wires,
corded edges nnd the texture of tho

little embroidery appears on this side

apron drapery over the front of tho
skirt, nnd the back drapery Is n trifle
shorter. As silk Is still very high, It
Is worth noting thnt drop skirts uru
made of n cheaper material, having a
deep border of silk at the bottom, and
this is tho case In tho frock pictured.
Dark tiluo nnd lilnck taffetas were nev
er better stylo than this season, nnd
designers have fairly surpassed them
selves In making beautiful nfternoon
frocks of them. Short or three-quarter
length blceves nnd lace or net
sleeves prevail In the styles. Those
with (hiring cuffs, like the picture, are
