The telephone number of a bljr business
hoube is 7000. A residence subscriber
whose number was 0000 requested us
to clmnge his number. He complained
tlmt he was called a score of times a day by
people wanting the business house.
The explanation is that many people guessed
at the number, and guessed wrong, asking
the operator for 0000 instead of 7000.
It is easy to be wrong when you guess, and
unfortunately tho person called in error
generally blames tho service.
Next to guessing as a fruitful source of un
satisfactory telephone service is placing of
undue faith in tho correctness of tho number
on m old card, letterhead or list tacked to
the wall. Use instead tho Heady llctcrcuco
Hcgister on tho inside front cover of tho
Hut better still, in n big telephone system
where numbers nro constantly changing, one
should always make sure of the correct pre
fix and number by consulting the telephone
direcloiy beforo calling.
It is tho quickest and burest vny to got the
right number. -
