Today we sin nil \ in dicated before the world ill the "vio lations of Ceorgia. and knowing that Coorgia is little, if any. worse than hill t* ii dozen other States, we sol emnly adjure thi< nation to give more serious attention and more ear liest action to this fostering social sore. Lynching and mob violence agninst Negroes still looms as our most indefensible national crime, and unless the present administra tion takes early action by legal enactment it will stand condemned of all thoughtful citizens north and south. Increasingly the Negro at Washington, t'hieago ami Tulsa has been forced to give his life in sell defense. No man can do loss for his family and people, and it is a cruel campaign of lying that repre sents this light for life as organized aggression. Negroes are not fools. Kleven million poor laborers do not seek will* on a hundred million pow erful neighbors. Hut they cannot and will not die without raising a hand when the nation lets its olt scou rings and bandits insult, harry, loot and kill thein. What is I lie cause of t he new con llicl of race in America? I' is not siniph a growing sense of manhood on the part of 'lie blacks, it is in creased lack of syuipath\ and sense of justice on the part of the whites, and t his arises from the snapping of those human bonds which must exist between neighbors. If the Ne gro child is not educated; ii the Negro is segregated in federal do- ,? pa rt incut s and Oklahoma cilies; if i he is publicly insulted by "Jim j Crow" c:ii's; if he is treated unjustl> . in the con 1 1 s a in the twelve pend- j ing Arkansas peonage cases; if in ? the army ami navy the Negro is grossly and continually discrimi nated against and faces plans lor further discrimination in the na tional guard: if he has no voice in the administration of the law espe cially as to labor, agriculture and education; and if dually the nation is being honeycombed by secret so cieties like the K u Klux Klan, who stir up race hatred by innuendo and appeal to the lowest brute instincts ? if all these things are done, how can we help but kill the human sym pathy, the spirit of the Prince of Peace, the strong faith and the de sire foe humble effective co-operation which alone can save civilization? Men and women of America, the program of those who would save America from bitter racial hatred and conllict and murder is short and simple: 1. The right to vote under (he same conditions as other persons vote. 2. A federal law n.gainst lynching and mob violence. :i. Justice for the convicted peons in Arkansas. ?1.
